This sale is for a vintage 1958-59 Franciscan Desert Rose service for 8. This set was a wedding gift in 1959 and has the backstamp which began in 1958--the brown "television" stamp. Pre-dates the England stamp. Made in USA. Set was in three boxes which were falling apart. Never been used. No signs of wear.Included are eight each of the dinner plates, dessert/salad plates, bread plates, and cups & saucers. They are marked with Franciscan's Brown TV Screen backstamp as shown above. Both mugs are in mint condition and look like they have never been used!Starburst is a decaled pattern which was introduced in 1954. It features small and large blue and yellow dots through which black lines radiate on a speckled off-white background. The vessel or elliptical shape was named Eclipse and was designed by George James.
